BSF lose relegation battle to ITI

Salgaocar deflate Mahindra 4 : 2.

26th Mar, Goa:   Needing a point to finish third, Salgaocar were stunned in the 2nd minute when Abbas Rizvi headed the first goal for Mahindra from Bassam's cross. Stung by the reserve Salgaocar equalized in the 11th minute when an unmarked Adenekan headed the ball in, from a Dharamjit Singh's corner.

Three minutes later, Santos displaying his Brazilian samba magic, dribbled past the Virendra the goalie, cut past three defenders and coolly placed the ball in the nylon, scoring one of the best goal seen in the NFL.

Dharamjit Singh added his name to the score sheet in the 30th minute, after the break Bruno Coutinho pumped in the fourth in 85 minute. Mohd. Najeeb pulled one back two minute later, but by then it was too late for the jeepman who finally finished in the sixth place.

Mohun Bagan celebrate by trouncing Tollygunge.

26th Mar, Calcutta : Mohun Bagan celebrated their championship victory in style, trouncing Tollygunge 4 : 0. Two goals from the Uzbeck Igor Shkvirin, one from the Brazilian Jose R. Barreto and a self-goal helped Mohun Bagan emerge victor. The double strike helped Igor Shkvirin emerge the highest goal scored of the NFL with 11 goals.

East Bengal surprise FC Kochin

Thrissur, Kerala  : East Bengal returning to form a bit too late, defeated FC Kochin 2 : 1. Although FC Kochin were one up in the 11th minute through K. Naushad goal, East Bengal equalised immediately through Emmanuel Opoku. Carlton Chapman goal in the 75 minute helped East Bengal win.

Dempo hold SBT

Thirnuvananthapuram, Kerala :  State Bank of Travancore could not encash on relegated Dempo's misery and were held to a one all draw. The goal scorers were Ashif Saheer for SBT in the 13 minute and Levy Coelho for Dempo in the 19-minute.

Churchill Bros. finish runners-up

25th Mar, Goa :  Playing under a scorching sun, Churchill Bros. needing just a draw to finish runners-up defeated JCT 3 : 0, in the final round of the NFL, played at Fatorda, Goa to pick up the Rs. 22 lakh prize.

Rocky Barreto struck first for Churchill Bros in the 4 minute, the finally two were add two minutes apart towards the end of regulation time by Soso in the 86 minute and the third by Francis Silveria.

25 Mar :  Playing their home game in Ludhiana and needing a win to stay in next year's NFL, BSF wasted a number of opportunities to score to, playing out a goalless draw.
